European

Description

Beer was one of the most common and popular drinks during the Middle Ages, consumed daily by all socioeconomic classes. In Europe, beer was mostly a domestic activity, primarily dominated by women brewers. It wasn't until the 14th century that beer became an artisan activity, with pubs and monasteries mass producing beer for consumption.
With the Industrial Revolution came improved efficiency of the steam engine, the invention of the thermometer and hydrometer, all of which meant the industrialization of beer could begin.
Modern European beer continues to be brewed using traditional methods, with many brewers concerned with sacrificing the quality of their product with new technologies. European brewers produce a wide range of beer styles from the ancient Lambics to modern creations and specialty beers.
