Hefeweizen
Description
Hefeweizen is another name for Weissbier, orginating from South Bavaria in Germany. It is made with at least 50% malted wheat and unfiltered, so the yeast gives it a cloudy appearance; Hefeweizen literally means "Yeast-Wheat". This fruity refreshing ale uses top rising yeasts, producing aromas of banana and cloves, and is only mildly hopped. It develops a thick, white head in the glass and these days Hefeweizen is often served with a lemon wedge.
Some Variants Include:Kristallweizen
Dunkelweizen
