Barreled Aged

Description

Barrels are sometimes used to age beers to achieve different effects in the final product. Intentional flavor effects include a wood-influence, or flavours from alcohol previously aged in the wood. Typically, darker, or stronger styles are popular choices for Barreled Aged beers.
Most craft brewers today choose to use oak to influence the flavor of their beers, but other types of wood used include apple, alder, or hickory, with the interior of most barrels being charred to enhance the flavours.
