Whether you're a beer rookie, know your way around an imperial stout, or are looking to take your beer knowledge even higher, Beer School at the Festival Hub at Beer DeLuxe Federation Square has got you covered. Throughout Good Beer Week, beer experts and special guests will take you on an adventure covering everyone from cheese pairing, to barrel ageing, to sensory training sessions. STKBB and Boatrocker Brewery are getting frisky with the brisket at St Kilda Burger Bar this Good Beer Week Head Chef Paul Tyas has crafted a melt-in-your-mouth chilli and chocolate braised brisket and placed it between two buns, creating the STKBB Boatrocker Brisket Burger, The Wilson. Paired with the freshly launched Boatrocker Stout, this burger is available throughout the duration of Good Beer Week from STKBB, located in the Grosvenor Hotel drive-thru at 10 Brighton Rd, St Kilda East. The CHBP and The Hobart Brewing Company collaborate in brewing a red saison which has been aged in Pinot Noir barrels & will be first tapped on the night. There will be 3 unique beers paired with 3 unique courses expertly designed by our team of chefs which is sure to leave your taste buds tingling. Showcasing the best produce the peninsula has to offer, we are serving up an exquisite four-course dinner with each dish matched to one of Red Hill’s finest brews; Scotch Ale, Hop Harvest, Pilsner and Golden Ale. Fancy Hank's presents an all-IPA spectacular! Featuring a selection of hopped wonder's from Fixation Brewing, Wolf of the Willows Brewing Co. and New Belgium Brewing. These will be paired with a selection of Hank's signature low and slow cooked American barbecue. Along with 5 IPAs, there will be canapes, starters, smoked meats and dessert. Tom Delmont of Fixation Brewing Co. and Scott McKinnon, owner and head brewer of Wolf of the Willows Brewing Co. will introduce and walk through the beers as well as host a Q&A session.

"A tweet lured me to Turkey initially – an image of young women laughing in the street and the Turkish words #direnkahkaha, meaning #resistlaughter. It was one of thousands of tweets posted by Turkish women to protest comments by the country’s then Deputy Prime Minister who said women should not laugh in public. And it found me, 16,000 kms away." "I went to Turkey to learn more about these women and connect with them. Tentatively beginning to call myself a feminist at the time, I wanted to celebrate their efforts and add my voice to theirs in the face of media censorship and marginalisation." Through necessity of timing, Resist Laughter considers the influence of Government actions and rhetoric on everyday experiences of women in Turkey – on the street, in families, at home, in personal relationships – as told to Alana from those fighting for equality.

Lawn bowls just got injected with steroids, beer and a little aluminium. Welcome to TINS OF GLORY, a new sport invented by the Balter crew, where the humble tinnie hits centre stage as an implement of mass game action. The World Tinnie Hurling Championships will debut at Good Beer Week this May 17th, where mates pit themselves against mates for the chance to be showered in prizes, beer and glory. How does it work? Teams of two get 4 tinnies per team and 60 seconds to slide them down a 6m long bench, aiming to get closest to the ‘pleasure zone’ at the end. Highest score progresses to the next round. The winners will receive a Balter pack valued at $1000 and enjoy the prestige of being the first World Champions of possibly the funnest game to ever be played in a bar. We’ll also be launching a brand new Balter beer on the night, so competitors and spectators alike will be the first to have a taste. It’s a night of groundbreaking proportions!
