Russian

Description

While beer is a popular choice for drinkers in Russia, it is secondary to vodka, which remains the most popular alcoholic drink. Despite this, Russian regulation favors beer, considering it a healthier choice over vodka. Beer wasn't categorized as alcoholic until 2012 in Russia, with many considering it a soft drink or light refreshment.
Beer in Russia is categorized by colours rather than the fermentation process - light, semi-dark, dark or red. Strong beers are those with an alcoholic content of 6-10%. The English originally produced Russian Imperial Stout to export to the Russian Imperial Court, where it was said to be very popular.
