Rye

Description

Rye beer has been produced with rye, which has been substituted for a portion of the barley malt. The result is typically moderately bitter, allowing the spicy and sour rye characteristics to shine through. Hop flavor tends to be low to medium-high, with a hop bitterness of low to medium.
The colour typically ranges from light gold to dark copper, although the use of rye can introduce red tones.
To be considered a true rye beer, sufficient rye should be included in the grain bill, so that rye character is present in the resulting beer.
