Dry

Description

Dry beer has been brewed to have a higher alcohol content and a less bitter aftertaste than normal beers. The sugar is extracted, and the fermentation process is longer, resulting in a light and crisp drink with less aftertaste.
Originally intended as a style of Pilsner for German diabetics, today dry beer is popular in Japan and many parts of Asia. In the late 1980's, dry beers were so popular in Japan that the launch of Asahi Super Dry led to the 'Dry Senso' (or Dry Wars), a period of intense competition between Japanese breweries over dry beers.
