Adjunct
Description
There are four main and essential ingredients in beer - malted barley, water, yeast and hops. An adjunct in beer is an additional ingredient that is added to enhance or add a unique flavor to the beer.
Some common and popular adjuncts in beer include chocolate, coffee or fruit. Beers such as Double IPAs or strong Belgian ales regularly include added sugars to add flavor and prevent cloying. Lambics typically have a dose of unmalted wheat added to them.
