Hidden down the âÂÂwrongâ end of Johnston Street is an old gem named The Yarra Hotel. Under new management since 2016, The Yarra is run by musicians for musicians, and is fast becoming a not-so-secret destination for live local music. With a big beautiful beer garden, tasty local beers on tap, delicious food, a massive bespoke vinyl collection and live music five nights a week, weâÂÂd like to think we offer everything you want in a venue, and more. We pride ourselves on showcasing some of the best bands from Melbourne and the world. Highlights include legendary front man of The Church, Steve Kilbey, Shayne P. Carter of Straitjacket Fits, ChinaâÂÂs Carsick Cars and a host of MelbourneâÂÂs finest talent. With a focus on emerging acts, there are plenty of bands who played their first shows with us now dominating the local scene, and whoâÂÂve found a safe space to perform here at The Yarra.
