In the 1850s Castlemaine was home to over 20,000 diggers seeking to make their fortune on the Central Victorian goldfields, and some 20 breweries helping them wash away the bitter pill of disappointment. By the early 20th century, all the breweries were gone...and so was the gold. In 2014, we thought it was high time to bring beer back to Castlemaine. And we struck gold with the formation of the Castlemaine Brewing Company. Three years on we embraced a name change. Same people, same passion, same commitment to small batch, hand crafted beer. Castlemaine Brewing Company became Shedshaker Brewing. At Shedshaker we reckon a good beer is one of life's great pleasures. We want to bring that excitement and joy to everything we do, especially when it comes to making fresh beers with satisfying and distinctive flavours. Let's drink to that.
