Hope and Anchor Tavern was opened on July 26 1807 on the banks of Hobart's rivulet. Hope and Anchor has been awarded Australia's oldest continually licensed hotel and has been renamed several times throughout it's long standing history. The Alexandra, The Hope Inn, The Whale Fishery and The Anchor and Hope to name a few. Our menu is focused on freshly sourced Tasmanian produce and traditional style pub food fused with modern favourites. When visiting, please fee free to go upstairs and visit our restaurant museum, open every night (entrance through our OysterBar).
