Chocolate Stout
Beer Description

A complex stout with rich chocolate aromas, hints of roasted coffee and toasty malts, but still very approachable and easy drinking. This year’s winter limited release is our second product into cans and is one of our favourite styles, choc oatmeal stout. We love this style because of the rich dark chocolate and coffee characters from the roasted malts. We’ve packed in a massive malt bill, which includes a heap of marris otter, rolled oats and crystal despite the low 5.6% abv. We contacted a local chocolatier, red cacao, who sourced organic, single origin cacao nibs which were then hand roasted and steeped in 40% neutral spirit to draw out the amazing chocolate flavours and aroma. The nibs were then added post fermentation for 6 days prior to packaging. The part carbonation with nitrogen makes this beer cascade beautifully as it’s poured into the glass leaving a thick dense head that laces the glass with each sip.
