Weissbier

Description

Weissbier is a wheat beer originating from Germany. The German word "Weiss" meaning "White" refers to this being the lightest coloured of the German wheat beers, ranging from pale to gold and usually cloudy in appearance due to yeast sediment. In Germany, all beer that is labeled Weissbier or Weizenbier must by law be made with at least 50% malted wheat, the remainder being malted barley. This fruity refreshing ale uses top rising yeasts, producing aromas of banana and cloves, and is only mildly hopped. Traditionally, Weissbier is a summer beer, but it is usually brewed all year round.

Country of Origin: Germany.
