Tripel
Description
A Tripel is a Belgian style ale, inspired by the Trappist brewers. 'Tripel' refers to the amount of malt used in the brewing process, as this can be up to three times the amount in a standard Trappist 'Simple'. This malty, slightly spicy beer can be deep yellow to gold in colour. As its name suggests, it sits between a Dubbel and a Quadrupel with regards to strength. There is a sweetness that comes from the pale malts and quite high alcohol content, but the use of Belgian candy sugar also brings a lighter body.
