Pumpkin Ale
Description
Pumpkin Ale is generally a seasonal ale that is released in Autumn in the USA. It is usually mild, malty and has little bitterness. Its name comes from the addition of pumpkins to the mash, or the use of pumpkin puree or flavouring. Spiciness is achieved through the use of traditional pumpkin pie spices, such as ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon or cloves.
Pumpkin and its accompanying spices are also sometimes added to other types of beer, such as pilsner or even stout, so there are many variations of Pumpkin Beer.
