Mead
Description
Mead or honey wine is produced by fermenting honey with water and can range from 8-20% ABV. The yeast used for mead is often the same as the yeast used in wine making, and often ferment at the same temperatures used for wines.
Mead is regularly consumed in Eastern Europe in Russia, as well as being popular in Ethiopia, where it is known as tej. The popularity of mead is on the rise, with a renewed interest in meaderies and craft brewing.
