Braggot
Description
Braggot, also known as Bracket or Brackett is a mead-beer hybrid. It is a strong blend of herbs and spices with beer and mead. The name is derived from the Welsh word Brag meaning Malt. Braggots can be made from a wide variety of beer bases and as such the brewing process and characteristics can be quite different. Other influences can be the type of honey used, alcohol volume and sweetness. Overall, they are usually sweeter with caramel and chocolate undertones. The evolution of Braggots began in the middle ages with meads brewed with honey and ale wort, or simply ale mixed with already fermented mead.
